Today I want to give you an update on my new project. As you know, I love to make classical guitar instrumental cover versions of your favourite songs, and I'm always working on new music for you. Well, I'm happy to announce that my next project has started well, and I'm ready to share some details with you.
I'm producing cover versions of 2-3 songs from Katri Helena, who is one of the most popular singers in Finland of all times. She has announced that she will retire next year after having performed for 60 years. I want to pay tribute to Katri Helena and thank her for being such a big part of my life.
The first song called "Katson autiota hiekkarantaa" has already completed the recording phase, which means that I have recorded all the instruments that I need for the song. The recording phase took me three weeks, and I spent about 40 hours recording all the instruments.
The most time-consuming task was to figure out and practise the lead guitar part, which is the main melody of the song. I wanted to make sure that I played it with accuracy and expression, and that it sounded smooth and natural. I spent over 10 hours on the lead guitar part alone, and I'm very happy with the result.
The second most time-consuming instrument was the Rhodes piano, which is a type of electric piano that has a warm and mellow sound. It is a crucial part of the song arrangement, and so I had to bite the bullet once again and learn to play the piano for this song. I spent about 7 hours on the Rhodes piano overall, and I think it sounds great.
I keep track of all I do because I also want to optimise my music production process. My goal is to produce more music more frequently, and to improve my skills and efficiency.
That's why I have set myself a challenge for this project: I have given myself 8 weeks from start to finish for the first song.
As much as I will spend on the first song will be the maximum time that I will allow myself for the second song. Then, I will try to finish the second song in less time, and that will be the maximum time that I will allow myself for the third song.
This way, I hope to reduce the time that I spend on each song, and to increase the quality and quantity of my music.
Next in making the first song is the mixing phase, and after that mastering as the final step of the production process. I will keep you posted on the progress along the way, and I will let you know when the song is ready for you to listen.
